We are here to help you

Our story

Our practice was formally launched in 2021 to provide quality, evidence-based psychological therapy services to individuals and families on the Sunshine Coast. We identified the need to create a Psychology practice that understands a client’s needs at each step of the journey from referral through to completion of treatment. Our aim is to foster an authentic connection with our clients by engaging directly with each prospective client rather than delegating this to administrative staff. We believe this approach is one of our main points of difference from other providers. This is important as research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is the main agent of change in psychotherapy and counselling. We truly value a therapeutic connection with our clients and bring a wealth of experience and training to our therapeutic skills. We look forward to be of assistance to the people of the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

Our Practice

What to expect

The key to successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship you and the psychologist develop over time. The first session with a psychologist is about establishing a comfortable working relationship and to find out more information about your main problem so your psychologist can come up with a formulation, which is basically a theory of how a problem entered your life and how it is being maintained.

Based on this formulation, a treatment plan is formulated in partnership with you and some treatment goals are agreed. By using evidence-based psychological strategies, the psychologist will then assist you to work towards these goals. We understand that our clients need to be heard, validated and be able to trust us. Our model focuses on providing you with a safe space to explore and understand your thoughts, feelings and actions.

Frequently asked questions

WHEN SHOULD I SEEK HELP from a psychologist?

We recommend that psychological help is considered when your emotional difficulties and sometimes behaviour are affecting your daily life, such as difficulty managing at work or school, or family life. Overwhelming emotions can become problematic at any age so you are never too young or old to change.

Research suggests that getting help early is best in improving mental wellbeing.

Psychotherapy can also help you improve your skills in a particular area of life such as public speaking or conflict resolution.

Our psychologists are trained to work with people across the lifespan and with a range of difficulties.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to explore whether we can assist you.

Do you offer after hours appointments?

We are one of the only Psychology practices that offer appointments on Saturday to accommodate clients who find week day appointments difficult. We also have some evening appointments.

We are often asked about after school appointments for children but we find that this can be counterproductive as children’s motivation and engagement are better earlier in the day.

What qualifications do our Psychologists hold?

Our psychologists hold tertiary qualifications in Psychology and are all registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as required by law. You will note on Our Team page that our psychologists also have additional qualifications and experience that may be of benefit to particular clients.

As required by law, we undertake continuing professional development activities which ensure we are able to provide you with up to date treatment approaches.

Why don’t you have any testimonials or reviews anywhere online?

As registered health practitioners, we are prohibited by law to display or encourage testimonials or reviews on our websites or any other platforms. We nevertheless welcome feedback from our clients by email.

Please contact us if you have any further questions.
